Use half-court or full-court diagrams, with court templates for NBA, WNBA, NCAA, high-school, FIBA, etc (yes, there differences in all these court dimensions... the lane, the 3-point arc, etc). Simply drag your offensive and defensive players onto the court. Then drag your passing, cutting, screening, dribbling arrows onto the diagram... easy as pie! You can easily add additional frames, which is usually necessary for all but the most simple of plays. To save time, you can copy the previous frame and paste it to the next frame, and then make the adjustments in the player positions, cuts, screens, etc. View screenshot.
